Future Seniors Grant Call
The Future Seniors Grant Call (FS GC) aims to support research that seeks to interrogate available data collected through existing cohort studies to enhance our understanding of:
the ageing process from younger ages; and
the challenges and aspirations of our future seniors, to better target policy interventions to optimise the ageing outcomes at different life stages.
Priority Areas / Challenge Statements (Proposals submitted must address at least 1 of the following 3 challenge statements)
A table of priority research areas and challenge statements
Priority areas | Challenge statements |
---|---|
Re-definition of ‘Seniors’ | To analyse the physiological, cognitive, social, and lifestyle changes between future and current seniors*, and determine whether these differences warrant a re-definition of the age threshold of "senior" status in policy-making and healthcare provision. |
Health Indicators | To investigate the changes in health indicators (e.g. cognitive function, frailty) of FS to inform cognitive intervention strategies and targeted frailty prevention programs for FS. |
Social Engagement and Lifestyle Behaviours | To investigate evolving social engagement and leisure preferences, lifestyle patterns and/or health behaviours of FS, and assess how these might impact the delivery and effectiveness of current preventive health and social support programmes. |
Note: * Future seniors: Individuals aged 40 to 59 |
